A gator was spotted using a crosswalk to cross an intersection in Flagler on Monday morning.

The 5-foot gator was sitting by a crosswalk at the intersection of Cypress Point Parkway and Cypress Edge Drive in Palm Coast.

Deputies called a Florida Fish and Wildlife trapper but the gator took off across the crosswalk before the trapper arrived.

Deputies stopped traffic to allow it to cross safely, and it scampered to a wooded lot and back into its natural habitat.

"He just walked in the crosswalk like it was normal,'' FCSO Cpl. Kenny Goncalves said.
