A former manager at an Augusta optometrist’s office is facing theft by deception charges after police say she stole nearly $75,000 from where she worked.

Richmond County Sheriff's Office Investigators arrested Karen Michelle Rogers after an ongoing investigation into thefts at Augusta Eye MD, WRDW reported. The thefts were originally reported on Oct. 4, 2019.

Investigators said in a news release that Rogers, 47, was a business manager at the office, The Augusta Chronicle reported.

Police said an estimated $74,615 was taken. Rogers was taken into custody at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center on the new felony charge of theft by deception.
