In an act possibly connected to the Black Lives Matter movement, an empty Daytona Beach police cruiser was set on fire early Sunday morning.

Officers were called around 2:30 a.m. for reports of a vehicle fire.

They found a marked Daytona Beach police car fully engulfed in flames.

A note apparently left by the arsonist was found nearby.

Investigators said the note referenced the recent officer-involved shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile and included an obscenity directed at police officers.

Investigators said the vehicle had been left at the location as a “ghost car.”

Police said it appeared to be a case of arson. The State Fire Marshal's Office will investigate.
