A South Florida man who survived a crash on an interstate highway early Saturday died when he was struck by a car while he stood on the highway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Sergio Estime, 51, of West Palm Beach, exited his Toyota Tacoma at 5:22 a.m. after his vehicle struck a 2006 BMW X5 driven by JN Hilaire Estime, 47, that veered off I-95 in Boynton Beach, WPTV reported. The BMW hit a concrete wall and flipped over, landing on its side, the Sun-Sentlnel reported.
Police did not say whether the two Estimes were related, the newspaper reported.
As Sergio Estime stood in the outside center lane, he was struck by a 2003 Toyota Matrix compact car driven by Miqueas Morales Ramirez, 28, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
The impact threw Sergio Estimes onto the rear truck bed of his Tacoma, WPTV reported.
Estime was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the Florida Highway Patrol reported
The other men involved in the crash suffered minor injuries, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
