An Asian monocled cobra escaped its enclosure Saturday and is now reported missing near Fort Myers, Florida.
The search area is centered around Stratton Rd & Kitty Hawk Dr, Fort Myers, FL.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife department was immediately notified and have begun a search near the owner's home. The owner has other exotic reptiles and did have a permit to own the cobra.
According to NBC2, the snake is five feet long with distinctive colored markings.
The monocled cobra is venomous with varying levels of potency depending on the origin of the snake.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission warns: "If this exotic venomous reptile is encountered, members of the public should call the FWC Wildlife Alert hotline at 888-404-FWCC (3922) or email or text Tip@MyFWC.com and report all details. Members of the public should not approach or attempt to capture this snake."
