A flight attendant from American Airlines is facing charges after he admitted to setting a fire during a flight between Dallas and Detroit last month.
The FBI said Johnathan Tafoya-Montano reported, and then extinguished, a fire in the rear lavatory of the plane, CNN reported.
It was already approaching Detroit when the pilot reported the fire to the control tower, and the flight landed without a problem.
Eventually, the FBI determined that Tafoya-Montano started the fire, charging him this week with destruction of aircraft or aircraft facilities, CNN reported.
He was released on bond with the condition he is not permitted to fly without permission from a judge.
