The first round of aerial spraying for mosquitoes carrying the Zika virus in Miami ended Friday with the next round expected to begin on Sunday.
Sunday's spraying will begin at 6 a.m., depending on the weather, the Miami Herald reported.
According to a CNN report, 56 local transmissions of the virus have been recorded in Florida. A Lake Worth woman was recently confirmed as the second local case, according to The Palm Beach Post.
Residents in Miami have been angry about potential harmful effects of the insecticide naled, according to the Herald story. Scientists told the Herald that “large doses of naled can lead to health problems for people.”
Some scientists told The Post that worrying about contracting the virus from mosquito bites shouldn't cause a panic, even though new travel-related cases have been documented in Palm Beach County.
