First responders did what they could to help a 5-year-old Gaston County girl with terminal brain cancer by taking her out to lunch Tuesday.

In October, doctors found a large tumor in young Klaire’s head, and she may only have six months to live.

Local law enforcement heard about the diagnosis and stepped up to help.

"Anytime when we ask her where she wants to go eat, she always says 'McDonald’s' so we always try to set that up for her,” Ranlo Police Department Sgt. Brian Holland said.

Police also took Klaire to Toys R Us for a shopping spree with her 3-year-old sister.
