A Delaware fire marshal was pulled over after driving nearly 30 mph over a posted speed limit and charged with driving under the influence in Maryland earlier this month, authorities said.
The Wilmington fire marshal and deputy chief of fire prevention, James Jobes, 53, was pulled over July 3 by a Maryland state trooper for driving 83 mph in a 55 mph zone, WDEL reported.
Investigators said Jobes was "so far impaired by alcohol (he) cannot drive safely," WDEL reported.
He was also cited for reckless driving, WDEL reported.
Jobes did not comment to WDEL. The city's human resources department said it was a "personnel issue" and did not further comment.
