A woman was being arrested for drug possession Thursday night when police said officers discovered a human fetus in her purse.

Bernadette Rivera, 32, was being arrested San Antonio, Texas, after officers found illegal narcotics near her private parts, KENS reports. While looking through her bag, officers said they discovered a human fetus.

The New York Daily News reports that Rivera told officers that she had a miscarriage and "left the hospital with the remains, deciding that she would determine the disposal of them." The fetus was discovered in a "small plastic Q-Tip box, which was covered in napkins inside her purse and was estimated to be 8 weeks old," according to the New York Daily News.

Rivera was charged with possession of narcotics.
