Alligators are incredible animals. While they’re a fixture in movies and TV shows as ravenous killing machines, actual alligator attacks are rare. Here are some things you may not have known about them.

  • Alligators have between 74-80 teeth and can go through 2,000 teeth in a lifetime.
  • They have one of the most powerful bites ever recorded for a living being.
  • Alligators are not just water creatures. They can walk, run, crawl and climb.
  • They have no vocal cords, but can roar by sucking air into their lungs and blowing it out.
  • Alligators are not strict carnivores. They love to eat fruit when it's available.
