Embrace a challenge — you never know where it will take you.

That phrase, from the Disney movie "The Lion King," also could apply to Daniel Drake, who has embraced a culinary challenge. "Dr. Dan" has taken pancakes and turned them into an art form. His latest creations include pancakes that depict Simba from the Disney movie, the Beatles and other celebrities.

Drake, along with his friend Henry Gustafson, created Dancakes, and needless to say, his admirers have flipped over his creations.

The St. Louis natives do demos and also film company logos or favorite characters as a way to advertise businesses.

Their website notes that the pair "are to pancakes as Dave Brubeck is to jazz."

Pretty smooth.
