An elderly couple who jumped together from the parking deck of a Las Vegas hotel and casino had been dealing with financial problems before their deaths.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Emi and Glen Yamasaki, both 63, were seen by witnesses arriving at the parking deck for the Silverton Hotel and Casino and parking on the fifth floor, the highest level of the garage. They got out of their vehicle and climbed up onto the exterior wall of the deck, then jumped.

Public records show that a bank had filed a complaint against the Yamasakis over credit card debt, the Review-Journal reported. The couple had reached a settlement with the bank last month that had them owing just over $15,000, payable in monthly installments.

Shortly after reaching that settlement, the couple was sued in small-claims court by their next-door neighbors, the newspaper reported. Court records also indicated that they could be facing foreclosure on their home.
