A dog who accidentally made a cross-country trip to Pennylvania is now booked on an Alaska flight that will arrive back home at Sea-Tac Airport in Seattle on Friday night.

Both Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines had offered to fly the dog back after hearing about her plight.

The dog, a Vizsla named Penny, is from Royal City, Washington. She was picked up in Tacoma by a truck driver who thought she was a stray and wound up traveling with him to Des Moines, according to Penny’s owner, Kendra Brown.

From Des Moines, Penny somehow made her way to western Pennsylvania, ending up at the Banfield Pet Hospital in Ross Township, Pa. It’s not clear how she made the full trek.

“It's pretty crazy. When she went missing, we thought she ran off and we were never going to see her again. We're just happy knowing she's alive,” said Brown. “I'm sure if she could talk, she'd have quite a few adventures to talk about.”

A microchip determined where Penny came from.

"To think that a dog traveled 2,000 plus miles to be found again with a microchip,” said Krista Novak,  a woman who fostered Penny after being contacted by a rescue organization.  "I'm so happy that I could help her out. I would hope someone would do the same for me if I were in the same instance, you know, the same circumstance.”

A Facebook page was set up to help get Penny home. Mission accomplished!
