A man who pressed record on his smartphone to capture post-colonoscopy instructions from the doctor ended up recording the entire exam, including the conversation among surgical team members who mocked and insulted him as soon as he was out.  (Source: Washington Post)

The doctors also are heard discussing an incorrect diagnosis the anesthesiologist reportedly noted on the man’s chart and lying to him later.

Some of the highlights of the audio:

• The anesthesiologist, 42-year-old tiffany M. Ingham, was heard saying to him, as he lay sedated, "After five minutes of talking to you in pre-op, I wanted to punch you in the face and man you up a little bit."
• A medical assistant commented on the man's rash, prompting the anesthesiologist to advise her to avoid it, else she might get "some syphilis on your arm or something. It's probably tuberculosis in the penis, so you'll be all right."
• The gastroenterologist who performed the colonoscopy, 48-year-old Solomon Shah, was heard saying, "As long as it's not Ebola, you're okay."
• Shah was heard saying other things as well, even telling an assistant to lie to the man once he regained consciousness.
• An assistant mocked the man for getting queasy as he watched a needle placed in his arm, and the anesthesiologist is heard saying, "Well, why are you looking then, retard?"
