Graphic designer Christian Boer says independent studies back up his own belief that the typeface he designed a few years can help dyslexics more easily. (Source: Slate.com)

Boer, who is himself dyslexic, has won awards for the typeface and given presentations on it around the world. He says the letters are weighted differently than traditional typefaces so that when the letters are switched around in the dyslexic mind, they don’t look like mirror images.

"When they're reading, people with dyslexia often unconsciously switch, rotate and mirror letters in their minds," Boer says."Traditional typefaces make this worse, because they base some letter designs on others, inadvertently creating 'twin letters' for people with dyslexia."
