A man in Ocala is facing animal cruelty charges after deputies said he cut off the tails of five kittens.

Deputies said James Reid, 68, got into a fight with the owner of a farm where he worked as a volunteer in September.

Reid grabbed a pair of garden scissors and some iodine after the fight and got into a truck with a coworker.

Deputies said he told the co-worker he was going to cut off the kittens’ tails because he wanted the farm owner’s wife, “To look at those cats and think of him.”

In October, deputies spoke to the witness who told then he was in the truck when Reid drove to the barn, got out of the truck and came back later carrying the tails.

Reid was arrested on an animal cruelty charge.
