A single-engine plane crashed Friday into Clear Lake in Orlando, killing two people, according to authorities.

A 50-year-old man and a female teenager died in the crash, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Federal Aviation Administration officials said the Beechcraft BE36 left Orlando Executive Airport around 11:25 a.m. en route to Gainesville, Texas.

FAA officials said the pilot was attempting to return to the airport after reporting autopilot problems.

The cause of the crash is unknown.

The names of the victims have not been released. There were no other passengers aboard the plane.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
