The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has released the dash cam video in the Walter Scott case.

The video shows the view from the police officer’s car. Officer Michael Slager appears to be professional in his initial handling of the situation, which began as a routine traffic stop.

An exchange about car ownership and car insurance takes place between Slager and Scott, while Scott remains in the car.

After Slager returns to his car to verify Scott's information, Scott gets out of his car, looks back towards the officer, and then returns to his car. Moments later, Scott gets out of his car and runs.

The dash cam does not capture the shooting, which was filmed by a bystander. The video of Scott being shot in the back by the officer has since gone viral, leading to the firing and arrest of Slager, who has been charged with murder.
