Matt Rushing was charged with 10 counts of tampering with a governmental record, the television station reported.

WFAA, citing sources within the police department, said Rushing is one of the department's leading ticket writers.

Police officials said an investigation was launched after a citizen complaint, the television station reported. The citizen said he was issued "multiple tickets" for not having his truck registered, even though the vehicle was parked in front of his home and had not been driven for years, the television station reported.

The arrest came after the Dallas Police Department conducted a criminal investigation and audit of tickets issued by Rushing, WFAA reported.
