A man accused of assaulting a 14-year-old girl on a Nashville street Sunday was tackled by the teen's father and other bystanders and held until police arrived, authorities said.

Eric Craig, 38, was arrested and booked into the Nashville Metro Jail, WKRN reported. His bail was set at $1,500, according to arrest records.

According to an arrest affidavit, Craig grabbed the child by the shoulder and spun her around to face him, the television station reported. According to police, Craig told the girl she "had a nice ..." but was tackled by the teen's father before he finished his sentence, WKRN reported.

The father of the girl had Craig on the ground, the television station reported. Police said Craig told them he "just wanted to tell her she looked nice," according to the arrest affidavit.

Craig is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 20, according to the arrest affidavit.
