Police officers who arrested mass shooting suspect Dylann Roof in Shelby Thursday took him in without incident, according to police Chief Jeff Ledford, and then bought him a meal at Burger King. (Source: Charlotte Observer)

The 21-year-old had only had water and a bag of chips at a south Charlotte gas station that day, Ledford said, and he was hungry.

Roof allegedly killed nine people at a prayer group at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, S.C.,the day before. Police said he took off after the shootings in his car, which has a Confederate States of America plate on the front.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
