A Mount Dora, Florida man has struck it rich in the lottery, but some may not find that to be a reason to celebrate.

Timothy Poole picked up a Super Millions scratch-off ticket at a local 7-11 convenience store over the weekend. He ended up winning $3 million, taking the one-time lump sum payment of  $2,219,807.90. Poole works for Triangle Cab, which is owned by his mother. So now, he's a millionaire ... and also a convicted sexual predator.

According to the Associated Press, Poole was arrested in 1999 for on a charge of sexually battering a 9-year-old boy.

Poole reportedly denied the allegations but pleaded guilty to attempted sexual battery and was sentenced to time served in jail.

Court documents examined by a local media outlet indicate his probation was revoked in 2003 after he failed to show up for counseling sessions. He was sentenced to three years in prison and released in 2006.

Poole told local media  he was wrongly accused.

Florida law states that it is not illegal for sex offenders to play or win the state lottery. Lottery officials do perform background checks on winners to make sure they don't owe child support or any other money to the state.

Since being released from prison in 2006, he has no other arrests on his record. He says he plans to use the money to help his mother expand her cab business.
