The boat that the two Tequesta teens were on when they went missing last month is no longer where the U.S. Coast Guard found it, a spokesman confirmed.

Crews found the 19-foot, single engine boat Sunday, July 26, 67 nautical miles off the Coast of Ponce Inlet in Volusia County. Perry Cohen and Austin Stephanos, both 14, went missing on Friday, July 24, and haven’t been seen since.

But the boat is also now missing, Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Ryan Doss said.

Coast Guard officials said they wouldn’t bring the vessel back until the search was suspended, but when they called a marine salvage company to bring it back, it was gone.

Doss said the Coast Guard is not focused on the fate of the boat and will not search for it.

“Our focus is saving lives, not property,” Doss said, adding that they don’t have the resources to locate the boat.
