In the wake of deadly attacks in Paris that killed 130 people, American goverment officials stirred conversation about whether or not the country should continue to accept Syrian refugees.
At least one Syrian passport was found next the body of a terrorist attacker that was killed Friday.
On Monday the House of Representatives passed a bill to suspend the program allowing Syrian refugees to enter the U.S. until key national security agencies certify they don’t pose a security risk. The Senate has yet to vote on the bill, but Minority Leader Harry Reid said he will try to block it.
Following the decision, CNN global affairs correspondent Elise Labott published this tweet:
After receiving lots of backlash, CNN suspended Labott for two weeks.
Many social media users showed support of Labott's original post.
Others wrote criticisms.
