A CNN anchor broke down reporting on a Syrian boy who was injured in an airstrike

An image of a stunned and blood-stained Syrian boy went viral on social media after his home was destroyed by an airstrike Tuesday.

CNN anchor Kate Bouldan cried while reporting about the tragic photo, which serves as a wake up call to the frequency of airstrikes that ambush the boy's hometown of Aleppo.

In the live footage, Omran is seen with an open head wound, looking down at his bloody hand before he is transported to an ambulance.

Omran, his three siblings and parents were fortunate to be rescued after an hour of people digging through the rubble of what was once his home.

He has been released from the hospital and is currently recovering with the rest of his family.
