Chris Harper Mercer is now a name synonymous with Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold, James Holmes, Vester Flanagan and countless other shooters who have terrorized American citizens in public places.
The 26 year old was identified as the gunman who shot nine people to death and wounded seven at an Oregon community college before dying in a shootout with police.
But who was Chris Harper Mercer?
According to a dating profile, which hadn't updated in more than three months, he was "not religious, but spiritual." He also identified as someone who "doesn't like organized religion."

The shooter specifically targeted Christians, one victim told her father. According to her account, after shooting a professor, students took cover and were then asked by Harper Mercer to stand and state whether they were Christian. He then told them they were going to meet God before shooting them, she said.
The victim, Anastasia Boylan, is undergoing surgery for a bullet wound to her spine, but is expected to survive.
Harper Mercer was apparently the son of an interracial couple, and his Spiritual Passions dating profile says he was looking for a female of a similar ethnicity. His profile says he was a Leo and his stance on drugs was "never."
While there are few, if any, red flags from the shooter's personality and online profiles, the most telling fact may be that he grew up without a father figure, according to information his uncle relayed to the Daily Beast.
An Inquisitir roundup of Mercer's social media profiles reveals he was a supporter of the Irish Republican Army.
A Guardian report addresses rumors that someone posted a warning to the messaging site 4chan Thursday morning, saying, "Don't go to school tomorrow if you are in the Northwest." Verifying the source of the message would be difficult because all posts to the site "are by definition anonymous."
