A 5th grade teacher at a public school in Queens, N.Y., was arrested after authorities heard audio of an alleged assault against a 10-year-old autistic boy last month.
Teacher Alexander Perry accused the boy of cheating. In the audio, Perry appears to become increasingly agitated before striking the child repeatedly.

The child’s mother, Giovanni Garrick, released the audio with her attorneys, who claim the school has covered up the teacher’s abusive behavior for years. Garrick is suing the city and the Department of Education for $10 million.
A second mother accuses Perry of yelling at her daughter and then physically moving her and her desk into a corner.
The assaults allegedly took place at the Lorraine Hansberry School in St. Albans, Queens.
