Pennsylvania authorities are investigating the deaths of five children early Sunday morning in a house fire in west Erie.

The children were between the ages of 8 months and 7 years old and at least four of them were staying at the home, which was a registered day care center, as their parents worked overnight, according to GoErie.com.

One other person was also injured in the fire and hospitalized for treatment.

Fire investigators believe the blaze started on the first floor in the living room but they have not determined a cause, Go Erie reported.
