Charmian Carr, best known for role in 'Sound of Music' dead at 73

Actress and singer Charmian Carr, best known for her role as Liesl, the eldest Von Trapp daughter in the film version of "The Sound of Music," died Sunday.
An update on her official website reads as follows: "My name is Steve Hughes, and my company has been managing Charmian Carr's website for many, many years. Me and my family are so sad to have to post this message and will miss her dearly ... She was such a nice, cheerful person ... Carr, has died of complications from a rare form of dementia at the age of 73."
Carr was 21 when she filmed the classic movie, which stars Julie Andrews. Carr is famous for singing "I Am Sixteen Going on Seventeen."
After leaving a career in acting, Carr started a interior design business, Charmian Carr Design. Her most famous client was Michael Jackson.
In 2000 she released her first book "Forever Liesl," which details her experiences making "The Sound of Music," and in 2001, she released her second book, "Letters to Liesl," which was inspired by fan mail she'd received over the years.
Carr is survived by her four siblings, two children and four grandchildren.
