"The first kittens, they looked like little hunting dogs running around on the carpet," founding breeder Johnny Gobble told ABC News. "I thought it was neat."

The International Cat Association says the breed, started in 2011, resulted from natural mutations in domestic shorthair cats. But some animal lovers aren't so sure about that.

The cats usually cost about $1,500 to $2,500, the Huffington Post reports.
