The 77-year-old was at the Royal Albert Infirmary when she made the request. The hospital obliged and arranged for Bronwen, Marsh's favorite horse, and another stud of her six to come to the hospital to see her off.

Despite being in frail condition, Marsh called the horse closer when she saw him. At that point, Bronwen approached Marsh and gently nuzzled her on the cheek during the final farewell.

The hospital's deputy director of nursing, Pauline Law, agreed. "This was obviously extremely important to [Mrs. Marsh] and her family and we feel privileged to have been able to provide this support at this crucial stage of her care," she said to BBC.

Marsh saw the horse Monday afternoon, then died early Tuesday, according to the report.
