The gunmen were reported to be near the student union, according to KAIT. The news station said a caller told dispatchers that three men wearing all black were carrying pistols.

The university sent out an alert to students, faculty and staff, declaring lockdown status on the college campus.

According to the Jonesboro Police Department, an initial investigation found no gunmen, and the department reported hearing no shots.
