A 2-year-old California boy died Friday morning after he was shot in the head, Visalia police confirmed.
KGPE reported the boy's father, William Stallworth, 25, was arrested and booked on homicide and child endangerment charges.
Visalia police responded to a call at 6 p.m. from a man who said his son had been shot, the television station reported. When officers arrived, they found the child suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
The boy was taken to an area hospital, where he died, police said.
Stallworth does not live at the home where the boy was shot, the Times-Delta of Visalia reported. It is not known whether the gun is registered to Stallworth, the newspaper reported.
"We are still investigating a motive," Visalia Police Lt. Abbott told the Times-Delta. "We are determining whether it was intentional or accidental."
