Caitlyn, the South Carolina dog who was severely injured after her muzzle was taped shut, has recovered from surgery and gone to her foster home, the Charleston Animal Society posted on Facebook Tuesday night.

Caitlyn, a stray 15-month-old chocolate Staffordshire mix, showed up at a home in June with her mouth tightly bound with black electrical tape.

She had surgery last week. Officials with Charleston Animal Society thought that surgery was going to be needed on Caitlyn's chin after the wound opened, but doctors said it would not be needed.

A Facebook page started during Caitlyn’s healing journey gathered more than 61,000 likes. The page will close Wednesday night since the dog is now in foster care.
