The older brother of pro wrestler and former Olympian Kurt Angle waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday on charges he killed his wife, and will stand trial.

David Angle, 62, was arrested in September.

Angle told police he and his wife Donna got into an argument about vodka at their Dormont home.

When his wife tried to kick him during the argument, Angle said he dragged her off a couch by grabbing both of her arms, then put his foot on her chest while continuing to pull her arms.

When his wife went unconscious and he couldn't revive her, Angle called 911.

"My client was in love with his wife and a lot is going to come out at the trial,” said defense attorney Bill Diffenderfer.

Family members, including Kurt Angle, were in court for the proceedings Friday. He was seen shaking his head and wiping away tears.

“It’s a hard time for everybody,” Kurt Angle said.

Afterward, he hugged Donna Angle’s family members and said his family is devastated.

“We’re family and we always will be. We love each other and we’re just trying to support each other, especially right now,” Kurt Angle said.

David Angle will stand trial on first-degree murder charges.

"You don't expect something like this to happen,” Kurt Angle said.
