An Australian bank robber’s getaway was foiled Wednesday when he was caught by police after getting stuck in traffic.

The man walked into a bank around 3:35 p.m., passed a note to a teller and pointed to his waistband, intimating he was armed, WAtoday reported.

The man was handed an undisclosed amount of cash before he fled in a green Volkswagen station wagon.

A short time later, police caught up with the man while he was stuck in heavy traffic.

He was arrested and charged with armed robbery, WAtoday reported.
