Band-Aid to offer bandages in more colors to ‘embrace the beauty of diverse skin’
Band-Aid is making a long-awaited change to its product in response to calls and protests against police brutality and racism.
According to an Instagram post made by the adhesive bandages brand on Wednesday, the company will offer bandages beyond the pinkish "flesh"-toned color.
“We are committed to launching a range of bandages in light, medium and deep shades of Brown and Black skin tones that embrace the beauty of diverse skin,” the brand said on Instagram. “We are dedicated to inclusivity and providing the best healing solutions, better representing you.”
The brand has also pledged to make a donation to Black Lives Matter as part of its “fight against systemic racism.”
CNN reported the Johnson & Johnson-owned brand will donate $100,000 to Black Lives Matter in addition to the $10 million Johnson & Johnson will donate over three years "to fighting racism and injustice in America."

For some, the decision was made too late.
“Even though we’ve been asking for this for DECADES,” someone wrote on the Instagram post.
"It took all this for you all to FINALLY decide to do this? There's a black created bandage line that already exists that is sold in Target y'all," one commenter said. That line, called TruColor, comes in four different skin tones and is available online and at Target.
"What happened? You only now realized we get cuts and scrapes too?! BYE. Buy from @browndages instead," another said, referring to another line of bandages for black and brown people. The line, called, Browndages, is black-owned and available online.
Band-Aid has not announced when the line will be made available for purchase.
