Baby deer takes ride in police cruiser

A baby deer wandering along a road was taken to safety Wednesday in the back seat of a police cruiser.

A Lewiston Police Department officer gave the fawn a courtesy ride to a safer area away from traffic after police were called to the area near Niagara University.

While police moved the fawn because it was in danger, wildlife officials do not recommend displacing a young deer, even if it appears to be abandoned. Does typically leave their fawns while they forage for food and are not too far away.
