An autopsy of a 4-month-old boy left in a car parked in front of an Austin Waffle House Thursday afternoon showed the child died of heat stroke.
A preliminary autopsy showed the baby died from hyperthermia and determined that the death was accidental, the Travis County medical examiner’s office said.
They identified the boy as Stewart Carylton.
Austin police initially said the child was 10 months old. However, the date of birth later released by the medical examiner put the child’s age at just younger than 4 months old.
Police have been questioning the car’s owner.
