Augusta mayor issues executive order requiring face masks to slow COVID-19 spread

Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis issued an executive order that will require citizens to wear face masks to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

WRDW reported Davis issued the executive order Friday.

The executive order took effect at 6 p.m. Friday and will remain in place for 30 days.

According to the latest information from the Georgia Department of Public Health, there are 1,517 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Richmond County. There have been 60 deaths.

Across the state, a record 4,484 cases have been reported in 24 hours. It’s the largest increase in confirmed cases in one day since the pandemic started.
