An 18-year-old Auburn University student was found dead in his dorm room on Sunday, the Lee County Coroner's Office said.

WTVM reported that Auburn police and East Alabama Medical Center EMS found the freshman unresponsive in his dorm room.

Police got a 911 call at 3:13 p.m. Sunday for a welfare check after the student's parents were unable to contact him.

AL.com reported that the name of the dorm in which the student was found has not been released. He was pronounced dead on the scene by authorities at 3:26 p.m.

WIAT reported that no foul play is suspected.

The cause of death will be determined by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

The identity of the student has not been released pending notification of his family. An investigation is ongoing.
