Aspen Foods, a division of Koch Poultry Company based in Chicago has issued a massive recall on its frozen, raw stuffed and breaded chicken products because the products may be contaminated with salmonella.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the 1,978,680 pounds of recalled chicken products have a "best by" date range between July 14, 2016 and October 10, 2016 and beat the establishment number "P-1358." The following brands are associated with the recall include:

- Koch Foods
- Market Day
- Oven Cravers
- Rose
- Rosebud Farm
- Roundy's
- Safeway Kitchens
- Schwan's
- Shaner's
- Spartan
- Sysco
The recall was prompted after a salmonella outbreak in Minnesota, which linked the products to three case-patients.
Salmonella is one of the most common bacterial foodborne illnesses. Common symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever. Onset usually begins with 72 hours of exposure, and the illness usually lasts four to seven days. While most people recover without treatment, those with compromised immune systems are at a higher risk for a severe reaction and should contact their health care provider.
