This truck is ready for duty on land or sea.
The Chevrolet Corphibian is a one-of-a-kind amphibious vehicle created by General Motors Co. engineers Richard E. Hulten and Roger D. Holm. Watch its maiden voyage in this video recorded in 1961.
Based on a Corvan body, the Corphibian also features a pair of propellers behind the rear wheel base along with a pair of rudders. Hulten and Holm put the video together while testing the vehicle before pitching the idea for it to GM. Unfortunately, GM passed on the unique vehicle.
However, Hulten refused to send it to the scrap yard. The truck stayed under lock and key for more than 30 years before it was sold to its second owner. This unique piece of American motor history has a mere 157 miles on the odometer.
And, if you've got enough money, it is coming up for auction. The vehicle will be up for bid in the Mecum auction in Kissimmee, Florida January 15-24.
