Comparing responses from 2001 to 2015, more people are accepting same-sex relationships - climbing from 40 percent in 2001 to more 63 percent this year.

It was the category with the most change over the 15 year period at 25 percentage points.

Also more accepting, divorce, using stem cells from human embryos for medical research and doctor-assisted suicide.

While the majority of the categories became more acceptable, two actually fell.

The death penalty and medical testing on animals are both becoming less acceptable over the past decade.

Gallup also found that people are finding themselves more "socially liberal" now than any time in the past.
