Update: John Cabot University confirmed in a statement Monday that the body of missing University of Wisconsin-Madison student Beau Solomon was found in the Tiber River.

Original story: Italian police are searching for an American college student who disappeared just hours after arriving in Rome for a study abroad program.
According to a statement from John Cabot University in Rome, 19-year-old University of Wisconsin-Madison student Beau Solomon was last seen Thursday night at a pub with several of his classmates.
His roommate reported him missing to Italian authorities the next morning after he didn't show up to orientation.
The statement continued: "John Cabot is fully engaged and remains in constant communication with the Italian authorities, the U.S. Embassy in Rome, and the home school, as the investigation unfolds. During this difficult time, John Cabot University is committed to assisting in the progress of the investigation, and in supporting the student's family."
"We're just really worried about his safety. If anybody can reach out to anyone that they know to try to get somebody to recognize Beau and help spread the word, it would be incredibly helpful," Beau Solomon's brother Jake told WMTV.
Solomon's family says his credit cards have been used since he went missing. His brother Jake told local media thousands of dollars have been charged to his account.
UW-Madison's dean of students said in a statement obtained by WISC, "We are deeply concerned about Beau and are working with John Cabot University in Rome and American and Italian authorities to assist in any way possible as they seek information on his whereabouts."
Solomon had just finished his first year as a personal finance major before heading to Italy last week. His parents were reportedly on their way to the country Sunday.
