As the song goes "video killed the radio star," and it seems Amazon's Alexa and other smart home devices killed the Dash button.

Amazon's gizmo that allows shoppers to restock frequently-used products with the touch of a button will end on Aug. 31, CNN reported.

The system launched in 2015.

But all is not lost. The Dash button will still be available virtually on the Amazon app, website, Echo show or a smart fridge, CNN reported.

But smart home devices and digital services like Alexa made the one-touch shopping obsolete since users can just tell Alexa to order items they're out of by speaking to the device, CNET reported.

Amazon also offers an option called "Dash Replenishment Service" that will automatically submit an order when items like printer ink are running low. They also have a "Subscribe & Save" option, CNET reported.
