A Milwaukee police officer has been shot and killed, according to a city official.

The officer, whose name hasn't been released, was part of the Milwaukee Police Department's Tactical Enforcement Unit. He was serving a search warrant on a house in the city's south side Wednesday morning when he was shot with a high-powered rifle, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Milwaukee Alderman Bob Donovan told local media that the officer was pronounced dead.

A 26-year-old male suspect was arrested after the incident, the newspaper reported.
