Adorable bear cub rescued from river

An orphaned bear cub has a new home after it decided to take a ride in a raft.

After seeing the cub struggle along the side of the Nolichucky River for several days with no mama bear in sight, river guides were concerned about the malnourished bear and how they were going to rescue the animal.

In the end, the cub decided to make it easy by coming to the raft.

In the amazing photo posted by the Knoxville News Sentinel, the bear appears to be calmly sitting in the raft operated by Danny Allen, of High Mountain Expeditions.

The river guides say they never have seen a bear act like that before.

The cub, now named Noli Bear, is recovering at Appalachian Bear Rescue. The cub was severely dehydrated and given fluids, and is now eating and moving about.

A spokesperson for Appalachian Bear Rescue said the cub will have to gain about 50 pounds before being released back into the wild. The rescue group also said that people should not approach bears in distress, but instead call a local wildlife agency.
