$390M Mega Millions jackpot 4th-largest ever

Get ready, becasue $390 million -- the fourth-largest Mega Millions jackpot ever -- is now on the line as the jackpot rolled over Friday evening when no one won the drawing.

The winning numbers from Friday evening were 54-57-63-14-11 with a Mega Ball of 11. The Megaplier was 5.

If the jackpot does not go up by Tuesday night's drawing, the cash option for the jackpot would be about $265 million.

The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won in Washington on March 8 at $157 million.

The largest Mega Millions jackpot was $656 million in 2012. The holders of three winning tickets sold in Kansas, Illinois and Maryland split the winnings.

Other large jackpots that have been won were $648 million, $414 million and $390 million.

According to the Mega Millions website, the game began on Aug. 31, 1996, as the Big Game.

The first drawing took place on Sept. 6, 1996, with six states participating: Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan and Virginia.

Through the years, the game evolved and quickly gained popularity. Mega Millions is now played in 44 states, plus Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
